GREK 102. Greek That’s Cool
An introduction to the forms, words and grammar of Koine/New Testament Greek.
Classes will meet at the Lanier Theological Library from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on Thursdays, September 23—October 28, 2021. Additional classes may be added as needed earlier in the day.
If you want to keep up with Mark Lanier, you are going to need to do all four classes and commit yourself to learning Greek.

GRK 102 Greek That’s Cool (fall, 2022)
GRK 103 Greek That Keeps You Warm at Night (winter, 2022)
GRK 104 Greek That Springs into Action (spring, 2022)

- You will have to memorize paradigms and vocabulary.
- There will be work to do on-line/on your phone.
- Description: An introduction to the forms, words and grammar of Koine/New Testament Greek. In person instruction. Classes will meet at the Lanier Theological Library from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the Lamb and Scroll (dining hall) on Tuesday evenings beginning June 22, 2021 through August 3, 2021.
- Course Instructor: David B. Capes, Senior Research Fellow at the Lanier Theological Library
Dr. Capes has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Greek for 25 years at Houston Baptist University and Wheaton College. - Enrollment: 40
- Course Requirements: There are no grades issued for the course, but I am glad to give you feedback on your work. Please bring paper to take notes for each session and try to be in place at 7:00 pm. Have your textbook by the first session and bring it each week. I will ask you to read a chapter or two and do the exercises related to the chapter. You cannot acquire a language without practice.
- Textbook: Beginning with New Testament Greek: An Introductory Study of the Grammar and Syntax of the New Testament by Benjamin Merkle and Robert Plummer (new, $32 on Amazon). For now, you do not need a copy of the Greek New Testament. I will supply you copies of various NT texts to read aloud and work through. If you want to purchase one, purchase the United Bible Societies 4th edition or higher of the Greek New Testament. Purchase the one with the dictionary in the back of it. You can buy it without the dictionary, but the dictionary does come in handy.
