TheLanier Certificate in Theology and Ministry is designed to train ministers and laypeople in Scripture, theology, Church history, and mission in order to serve the Church and extend God’s Kingdom.
The Lanier Certificate in Theology and Ministry consists of eighteen courses in Christian Scriptures, theology, and ministry. Each course includes approximately five contact hours with the instructors.
Courses are taught in various modalities, including face-to-face, online (using Zoom), or hybrid. Generally classes are taught in intensive, weekend seminars. Little to no pre-work is required. To obtain credit, you must complete an essay applying knowledge obtained through the course.
How long will it take?
The LCTM has a core curriculum of 12 courses plus 6 electives (you choose based on availability or interest). We aim to offer one new course each month during the Fall and Spring academic calendars. Consequently, the certificate should be completed in about two years.
Is the program for me?
We welcome bi-vocational pastors, interested laypeople, candidates for ministry licensing, church leadership-development programs, deacons, elders, Sunday school teachers, youth ministers, children’s ministers, continuing education in ministry, or any seminary graduate who needs a refresher.
How do I sign up?
We use a third-party Learning Management System, Moodle, to facilitate course registration, payment, and communications. It also tracks your progress toward earning your Certificate. You can access your account from either your laptop or mobile device. After creating your account, enroll in the Lanier Certificate for Theology and Ministry course – there is no charge, and it ensures you are notified about new classes and special events.
