Welcome to all! As a private library open to the public with a specific focus of study, we provide the best resources and help to all levels of scholarship in our area of focus. We also strive to extend our hospitality and the unique mission to the public as well.
Growing pains often mean change! And my goodness, have we grown! Our vision has expanded, which is evident in all of the construction you’ve seen over the last several months. We wanted to share news and updates with you.
Food Policy
We love all beings, but we’d rather not have the non-human guests scurrying around our books and artifacts!
(We imagine you don’t either.)
Thank you for working with us on our remedy. Please do not bring food into the library.
We do hope you enjoy lunch or snacks on the tables and benches outside.
SECRET NEWS: When the new education building is completed, we will be inviting you to enjoy company, conversation, and food in the café! In the interim, enjoy hosting the roaches and mice outside our library doors and count the ever-increasing population of rabbits!
Social Events Policy
We congratulate and celebrate with you on your marriage, proposal, or personal special event! We truly do. While we wish we could accommodate every request, we are not a wedding venue, engagement venue, or party venue. These types of events are not something that are consistent with our purpose and mission as a private foundation and a theological library. The Lanier Theological Library is dedicated to the serious study of God’s Word, to theological contemplation, and to providing a quiet place of prayer and reflection for its patrons. In order to protect that atmosphere and mission and to comply with IRS regulations for non-profit foundations, requests of this sort are approved by our committee on a very limited basis, and no earlier than six months in advance. Our first priority in events are those that are planned around the library mission, and our calendar fills up very quickly!
Photography Policy
Revised Guidelines for 2022
In order to protect the atmosphere and mission of our library, the following guidelines apply IF exceptions are made for photography, including both personal use and the use of professional photographers.
- A limited number of one-hour sessions are available Monday through Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm, by appointment only. Written confirmation of the appointment is required while on campus.
- There is a mandatory location fee of $100 for photography sessions.*
- No additional lighting equipment, props or music may be used.
- Any of the building exteriors may be used as a backdrop for photos.
- NO photo sessions, amateur or professional, are allowed INSIDE the library, chapel or cottages.
- Photography must accommodate and work around the normal functioning of the library facilities, grounds and staff.
- Photographs posted online, on any social media, or in any advertising or promotional material, may NOT include the LTL name or location.
*The Lanier Theological Library is owned and operated by the Lanier Foundation, a 501(c)(3), non-profit, private operating foundation, and conforms to IRS regulations regarding its use by other than non-profit entities or individuals.
