Announcing: The Pastor Ramon and Amparo Medina Collection . . . en Español
The LTL is beginning to develop a new collection of resources for the Spanish speaking community across Houston. Not only will you be able to find excellent materials translated into Spanish, you will also soon discover resources from Hispanic theologians and authors with a spiritual and cultural perspective unique to the Spanish speaking world. Majority world scholars, or those from the global South, have an important contribution to make to the field of biblical studies and to theological discussions around the world. Patrons will soon be able to hear their voice, and to read their works, at the Lanier Theological Library in Houston.
This new and growing collection of Spanish resources is named in honor of Pastor Ramon and Amparo Medina. Pastor Ramon served as Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Cali, Colombia for nearly 50 years, sending missionaries and planting churches across South America. Amparo served alongside her husband as an author, teacher, and biblical counselor. The Medinas were instrumental in launching a Baptist Theological College and Seminary in Colombia, where he served for many years as Professor of Pastoral Ministry and Homiletics. In retirement, the Medinas moved to Houston to serve alongside their son, Dr. Ramon Medina, in the Spanish ministry at Champion Forest Baptist Church. It is a pleasure to recognize the Medinas for their faithful love and leadership in the Spanish speaking community and around the world. ¡Gracias Pastor Ramon and Amparo Medina!
