Luke and Acts are on the podcast today! Steve Walton, Professor New Testament at Trinity College in Bristol, joins David Capes on the Stone Chapel. They discuss the connections between the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles.
Dr. Walton reveals several connections between the two stories. First, both books start with the prologues and are addressed to the same person.
Walton proposes that the Gospel of Luke pulls together eye-witness stories of the life of Jesus. Acts too is based on eye-witness testimony.
He also thinks that the common features of the two books gesture towards the relationship between Jesus, his people, and the Holy Spirit.
Walton is currently writing the Acts volume for the Word Biblical Commentary.
